English Language Learner
At TYL Middle School, our English Language Learner (ELL) program supports students whose first language is not English in developing strong communication and academic skills. We are committed to helping every student feel confident, included, and successful in the classroom.
When students enroll, families complete a Home Language Survey. If a language other than English is indicated, students may be assessed in speaking, listening, reading, and writing to determine if additional support is needed.
Students who qualify for ELL services receive support tailored to their individual needs. This may include small group or individualized instruction, support within the classroom, and collaboration between ELL staff and teachers.
Our program focuses on helping students build English proficiency while continuing to access grade-level content. Progress is monitored regularly, and students are assessed each year to ensure they are growing and receiving the appropriate level of support.
At TYL, we value the diverse languages and cultures our students bring to our school community and strive to create a welcoming environment where all learners can thrive.
