Dear Parents:
Leonard J. Tyl Middle School is constantly looking for ways to connect and communicate with our parent community. We value opportunities to work with parents in order to continue to promote a positive school climate and assist in providing a quality education within a caring and safe environment. There is no one person or group who can take credit for the success of our school. We need to work together as a team and constantly share and learn from each other. That is why this year we are continuing the Tyl Parent Advisory Group (PAG). The group will consist of Tyl administration and parents. All parents are invited to participate.
The goals of the PAG are simple:
· Provide a school parent group for the purpose of on-going communication between the administration and the school parents regarding school initiatives
· PAG parents will be active leaders in the larger school community and encourage other parents to be involved in school life at Tyl Middle School
· Help to disseminate news and information about the school, specific events and needs
· To fulfill our responsibility to provide our children with the best education and environment we can… after all, they are our children
The group will meet three times per year. The agenda will be basic; what is happening at Tyl that parents should know about. Topics will possibly include behavioral and social issues, curricular and instructional issues, and CMT-related issues. From time to time, other Tyl staff may be invited to attend to present a specific aspect of our school. If there is a topic you are interested in discussing, please contact us prior to the meeting so that we may prepare properly.
The Tyl PAG will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Dates for the 2011-2012 Tyl Parent Advisory Group are:
Tuesday, November 1, 2011
Tuesday, January 31, 2012
Tuesday, April 3, 2012
The success of students is greatly enhanced when parents and school personnel cooperatively pool their resources to assist children through this most crucial developmental period. Effective communication is instrumental in providing a positive school experience. It is our intention that the middle level years at the Tyl Middle School will provide each student with a successful and productive school experience.
If you are interested in joining the Tyl Parent Advisory Group, please call the school to speak with Mrs. Dix. You can also email mjdix@montvilleschools.org. We look forward to meeting with you and sharing exciting news about Leonard J. Tyl Middle School.
Sincerely,
Mary Jane Dix
